Barcelona is about to welcome the third edition of 4 Years From Now, also known by its acronym, 4YFN, which is featured on its logo alongside its motto, “Connecting Startups”. It will take place from February 22nd in conjunction with the GSMA Mobile World Congress, the must-attend gigantic tech fair during which the mobile industry introduces some of its latest innovations.
We’re pleased to announce that Platzi will be there to bring you some of the latest news from both events, so stay tuned for further coverage on this blog, our Spanish-language blog and our social accounts. We’ll also do a special edition of our Spanish-language weekly podcast, PlatziLIVE, which our founders Christian Van Der Henst and Freddy Vega will host from Barcelona together with special guests.
As a startup, we’re particularly interested in 4YFN, which has grown tremendously since its first edition. This year, its organizers GSMA and Mobile World Capital Barcelona expect no fewer than 12,000 attendees, up from 8,000 in 2014. Its line-up is also quite impressive, including names such as Wikipedia’s Jimmy Wales, Android’s co-founder Rich Miner and Skype’s co-founder Niklas Zennstram.
It is worth mentioning that there are many bridges (and transportation options) between 4YFN and MWC. For one, 4YFN is one day shorter than MWC, a wonderful opportunity for participants to spend that last day at MWC’s huge venue, Fira Gran Via. Conversely, MWC participants can visit 4YFN’s venue Fira Montjuïc whenever they want, which is a great way to build ties between the corporate world and startups.
Make sure to drop us a line if you’re in Barcelona during 4YFN and MWC - it’s always a pleasure to meet our students!
