Next Thursday, Platzi will host a masterclass that has a special meaning to me. The story goes back to December 2012, which is when I earned a scholarship to learn about SEO by attending my first Platzi Course. Actually, it was still called Mejorando.la back then: the name change to Platzi took place in 2015, but that’s another story.
A few months later, I watched a live keynote by David Kadavy about typography, hosted by Mejorando.la, where I was still a student. This was how I discovered David’s work; I loved his talk and wanted to know more, so I started following him on Twitter, and took his Design for Hackers email course. I’m not even a designer but I enjoyed those 12 emails very much and learned tons, so when the course was over I felt very glad when I found out that David kept sending amazing content to his students.
Last year I started working at Platzi, which had already hired former students like me in the past. It has been a great opportunity for me to keep on learning a lot while also helping others. I care about our students, I listen to what they have to say about our content, our platform and the whole experience and then I talk to our team to find out the best way to improve our product. That’s what I’ve been doing for the past 12 months, and even more so since my recent promotion as Head of Support and Community. During all that time, I also kept reading David’s blog, watched his Periscope series about how to run a one-person online business, and often talked about his ideas with my co-workers.
What I’ve learned from David has been really useful to help me understand the dynamic between a product and a customer, the process of creating something for someone else and also of building an audience with brilliant content. And David has been doing all these by himself, so who would be better placed than him to teach about it?
That’s what I had in mind when I asked him whether he could share that knowledge with Platzi students, and to my delight the answer was yes.
Next Thursday, December 17th David Kadavy will deliver a masterclass on Platzi about how to run a one-person business online. With this course you’ll learn how to define your project, create and sell a product, build a strong following with explosive blog posts and succeed as a solo entrepreneur.
Check out the details of the class and join us for the live streaming from 12 pm PT.
Also feel free to invite whomever you think will find this course helpful, as the access is free.
Hope to see you there!
